Nadia on Parchment

For the Progressive Freebie Challenge over at The Outlaws, we are fortunate to have MMedelIllustrations as our sponsor with this pretty image, Nadia. It made me think of a cameo and, since I have started parchment crafting, I wondered how this would look done by coloring on the back of parchment paper using an oval like a cameo has.

Using Polychromos on the back of the parchment leaves a very pale image and also reverses the image. The light blue on the embossed background flowers and edges of the oval backing is from a dusting of Distress Inks. The sentiment, white heat embossed, is from a set from Neat and Tangled, Square Thoughts. The tiny flower is an example of parchment craft. A few Nuvo drops finished up the card.

Thanks for coming by. I hope you will join us. Just click on the link above, or here,  to find out how!

Ms Scarecrow with Squirrels

The delightful fall image for our September Progressive Freebie over at The Outlawz comes from Mary of CreatefulHeartsCards , Ms. Scarecrow with Squirrels.
I printed the image out on Neenah Desert Storm 100 lb. cardstock and colored using Polychromos colored pencils. I added some white gel pen for the buttons and dots, then cut out with the Die-namics Wonky Stitched Rectangles. The card base is also the Neenah cardstock. The white layered piece was wrapped with a loose weave burlap and a rough string was tied. Finally, I added a burlap butterfly that I had in my stash.

Loving this image, and curious about what Copics would do on this paper, I did a second one.

The background is done with Distress Oxides. Which do you prefer?

If you haven't yet joined us for this monthly free challenge, do request to be part of the group. It's easy to join The Outlawz and loads of friendly people to help you out until you get the hang of finding your way around.

Double Trouble and The Three Amigos Challenges

Double Trouble has one extra challenge this month, making this Challenge #6. Thing One asks for something, anything, or everything. Thing Two suggests we add our post to a previous partner. And, Thing Three asks us to decorate the inside of our card. One of our previous partners was The Three Amigos so I am joining in on their embossing, wet or dry, challenge.
I had an unused stamp set from Recollections,Cheeky Modern Pop Unicorn, that was sitting in my "neglected" pile. I also had some very thin black paper sitting in a pile. So, I stamped "SOMETHING", the Unicorn on the black paper with white ink, colored lightly in white and then added the colors using Polychromos pencils. I added some shine with sparkle pens and some Glossy Accents on the horn. The background is both wet and dry EMBOSSED adding Wow gold embossing powder over an embossed piece of Yupo that had been colored with alcohol inks (it's the pink and yellow vertical stripes that you can barely see). The sentiment on the front was from the set and I added some pretty Liquid Pearls.

To add to the INSIDE of the card, I stamped the sentiment that came with the set then added some Bo Bunny glitter paste through an Altenew stencil called Warp Speed.

Hope you'll join in on the fun for both of these groups! Thanks for your visit.

Do read up about this at her blogBaby Cakes on Etsy, Sandra Caldwell, has put four of her adorable images on sale just for a HIP HIP HIPPO Celebration. I selected Ouch Hippo to make this card.
I colored the image with Polychromos colored pencils, and dotted the eyes with Nuvo Crystal Drops.I popped up some pretty papers from We Are Three that I had added the stitching digitally, also from We Are Three. A few yellow Nuvo Drops and red twine finished the card.

Hot Chick Flamingo Shaker Card

From the Heart, i {heart} card sketches w/ a tWiSt #153 offered a sketch and an optional twist to fussy cut the image. I wasn't able to fussy cut this sweet flamingo because his legs were just to skinny LOL! However, I did flip the image because I had something totally different in mind when I began this card. This image is called Hot Chick Flamingo and I knew I wanted to make a shaker card. Then, everything went sideways on me. Ever have one of those days? At least I followed the sketch, and it turned out fine (but different) in the end. The image was colored with Polychromos pencils. The sentiment comes with the set.

I colored this image with my Polychromos and edged with Distress Inks. I also added a bit of Wink of Stella. The background was done with an embossing folder. I used a clear embossing powder and went over with Distress Inks. I made a tiny purple bow and attached a couple of dimensional butterflies from Basic Grey.

Forever Friends

The twist this week over at Twisted Thursday, The Outlawz, is to use our favorite color. I love all colors, but if pressed, I will choose variations of purple. Our sponsor is Ppinkydolls and I selected the image Forever Friends. I colored the scene with Polychromos pencils and added some fineline Copic Multiliners for clarity. The card base is Neenah Desert Storm cardstock. I had fun doing some really heavy distressing on the layers. For embellishments, I used cork dots, Burlap butterflies, and a gingham ribbon.

Cloud Lily

Our sponsor over at Twisted Thursday, The Outlawz, is Ppinkydolls. This sweet little fairy image, Cloud Lily, is perfect for our optional twist of "anything with wings". I used Polychromos colored pencils to work on Neenah Desert Storm cardstock, 100 lb. I used Gina Marie stitched dies. The print paper is from The Paper Studio, a Day at the Beach, and the flowers are made with the same paper using a quilling die from Quilled Creations. I filled the centers with Stickles and added some waxed twine to one of the layers.

I colored her with Polychromos and added just a touch of red pen and some Wink of Stella on the heart. I fussy cut her and popped her up for dimension. The background paper was made with an embossing folder and some Pan Pastels. The large hearts were watercolored and then cut with a die cut. The smaller hearts are stickers from EKsuccess.

Center-step LUV U

For the last week of December, the twist over at Twisted Thursday, The Outlawz, is an anything goes. I chose this image LOV U from our sponsor, Sherri Baldy, My Besties. I used Polychromos colored pencils, blue gel pen, Squeezed Lemonade Distress inks around the border of the image, Copics to airbrush the die cuts, and a Simon Says Stamp die for the sentiment. (Her forehead is not yellow, just some kind of reflection from outdoor lighting.)
