Cabbage Roses from Sandi Samples

The Outlawz January monthly Progressive Freebie Challenge offered this beautiful digital image from Sandi Samples called 58 Cabbage Roses. I love coloring flowers and wanted to make them look like the flowers we had in our backyard when I was growing up. I used the pallet blending technique on the flowers and then let my ScannCut fussy cut them out. I used a embossing folder that I had applied Distress Inks to for the background. Then I took the same folder and did another with plain white and used a die to cut out the oval shape. I used the same ink on the edges. The white one is popped up with foam. The bow was colored with my Copic air brush as were the small flowers on the bottom left. A couple of pearls and a touch of Wink of Stella on the roses and it is complete.

  1. Love this, Jean! I almost colored mine in yellow, then decided at the last to go pink! I love that background. It looks like a beautiful vintage card!

    1. I was really trying to get peach, but was not successful. We had peach colored roses in our yard when I was a child and the scent was just amazing. I'll have to go look at yours. This is such a nice image that we got from Sandi :) Thank you, Janet!
