Vellum for Flowers

I went with friends to the Scrapbooking Expo in Mesa yesterday and took a class with Heartfelt Creations in creating flowers with vellum. Since vellum is my best friend lately, with the Groovi plates and Pergamano parchment crafting, I thought these kinds of flowers would make nice embellishments. I wasn't wrong, and I'm so glad I took the class.
I enjoyed making these flowers so much. They were stamped on heavy vellum, die cut with matching dies, then heat embossed with white embossing powder (be careful, vellum can warp if you stay in one spot too long). A bit of color was added with inks and a blending sponge. The flowers were formed using a tool, or you can use the mold if you have one. The leaves were formed using a mold, but you can shape them yourself. There are a lot of good videos showing all the techniques for this style.

Isn't that butterfly amazing? I purchased the stamp and die cut, so I know you will see this again! Gasp! A bit expensive, but I got the stamp set for free from taking the class.

This is such a lovely technique with paper, and even more lovely using vellum. Hope you'll give it a try!

Edited to add that this was a featured card at The Outlawz!

My sunflower just had to be different and be a blue one! I used Heartfelt Creations, Delightful Daisy, for the paper flowers (paper, doodlebug Hello Sunshine pad), with a hello using Paper Smooches, Delightful Greetings.

Dragon Bath Time Card

Our sponsor this month at Twisted Thursday is Dragons Lair Designs.  Our optional twist is "handmade flowers".
So, where would a cute dragon take a bubble bath? In a field of flowers, of course! This image, Rupert Dragon Bathtime Rubber Duck, was colored with Copics and edged with Distress Oxides. The back panel was watercolored and topped with salt for texture. The flowers are from Heartfelt Creations, Delightful Daisy set. Some Nuvo drops, Spectrum Noir Glitter Gloss, and a rubber ducky button finished up the card.

New Challenge from The Three Amigos

There's a new challenge in town! The Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge!
For this first challenge, they are using the Close to My Heart Paper Pack, Some Kinda Wonderful (or this as a color pallet/inspiration). I selected the gray, green, and black for my inspiration. I used the fox and turtle from the Some Kinda Wonderful stamp set, colored with watercolor pencils, and the sentiment from the Share the Love stamp set. The die cut is Regal Borders and Pockets from Heartfelt Creations.
Thanks for stopping by. Do take a look at the new challenge. I truly enjoy reading any comments that you take the time to leave for me!

For the Birds!

The optional twist this week at Twisted Thursday, The Outlawz, is "For the Birds"! Our sponsor this month is Through the Craft Room Door. The flowers were created from a Heartfelt Creations set of roses and the hummingbird (popped up with double foam tape) is one of my oldest stamps, probably my very first. The die cuts are from Spellbinders, and I used Distress Inks for the flowers and Prismacolor pencils for the bird. The center of the flowers were dotted with Liquid Pearls. A bit of Wink of Stella went on the hummingbird and flowers.
