This week, over at Color My Heart Color Dare, the required colors are Slate, Canary, White Daisy, and Eggplant. These colors seemed like good colors to use for a masculine card.
I used my Scan n Cut along with an SVG file from My Scrap Chick called Duck and Cattails to make this very simple card. The patterned paper is yellow and gray. The tops of the cattails are not attached and the duck is popped and edged with an eggplant color to match the cattails. The sentiment was gone over with an eggplant colored sparkle gel pen.
Thanks for stopping by. I always enjoy reading your comments!
Fabulous card! I love the eggplant cattails behind the duck--such a wonderful focal image! The paper layering behind is very masculine. Thanks for sharing this lovely card with us at the Color Dare challenge blog--so glad that you found us! Please join us again soon!

Hopefully, I did the right thing this time, Marie. This card is definitely not my usual style, but it was fun to try something new. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a nice comment!
DeleteHey, Jean, great job...I didn't think you'd pick this color challenge but your made every color blend in so well with each other...Love cattails and great background paper. I'm so glad you joined us again this week especially since I gave you such a hard time in regard to Only and All challenge. Thanks for sharing with us at Color Dare...great masculine card and still pretty for us women.
ReplyDeleteNot my favorite color combo, Sue, but I felt like I had to redeem myself, LOL! This kind of challenge is just a bit too restrictive for "Miss Colorful" here, but it was fun to try out some of those SVG files I have been collecting and never using :)
DeleteJean, this is a great masculine card! So many times, guy cards are neutral or dark colored, but this is awesome! Your cuts are great and the sponging on the duck is great, too!! I guess you know I think your card is "great"! LOl

Well, Darcy, you know this is not my usual style, so it is nice to read that you like it. Thank you!
DeleteWhat a fabulous card, Jean! The cuts are perfect and you put these colors together beautifully for the challenge. I'm still pondering my card for this challenge, not sure it will happen.
ReplyDeleteIt was almost a coincidence, Melanie, that I had just gotten that SVG file and was wondering how to use it. If I hadn't had that pack of Tim Holtz cardstock with that odd color, it wouldn't have happened for me either :)
DeleteFantastic card. I like the duck and cattails on the B&T it's not an overpowering pattern. Thanks for playing along at the Color My Heart Color Dare...come back soon!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Princess. My husband thought it was a great card, so I know we will use it for one of his friends.
DeleteWhat a wonderful masculine card, .Jean! I struggle with masculine cards...I may have to borrow this idea!
ReplyDeleteThey are hard to do, aren't they Janet? At least I could duplicate this one if I had to :)
DeleteLove this card! What a great idea with the purple cattails and the duck. Thank you for playing along this week on Color Dare.
ReplyDeleteI probably would never have used this SVG set if not for this challenge that kind of pushed me into it. Glad I did though, Catherine!
DeleteCongrats on your Emerald Award at Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #239. Great card, Jean!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Melanie. What a delightful surprise!
