Innertube Birdbrain

From the Heart, i {heart} card sketches w/ a tWiSt #140 offered a sketch and an optional twist to add a shaped card. I always try to do both, but I admit to being baffled as to what a "shaped" card was. Square is a shape and so is rectangle and a circle. Too confused, so, I had to skip that part this week.  I selected this funny birdbrain stamp called Inner Tube Birdbrain. I used my Gina Marie stitched circles and squares and a bit of baker's twine. The edges are done with Distress Inks in Wild Honey. A bit of Wink of Stella was added to the eyes and circles of the inner tube.

Holly Rose Tag

The twist this week over at Twisted Thursday, The Outlawz, is to use lace, ribbon, or twine. I added a pink ribbon bow to the top of this light pink tag. The image is from our sponsor, Make it Crafty, and is called Holly Rose. I colored her with Polychromos colored pencils and added a lacy cut out done with my Scan n Cut. I fussy cut the image and put her on a black oval that is popped up. Finally, I added a few pearls and a heart.

Mouse Balloon from From the Heart

From the Heart, i {heart} card sketches w/ a tWiSt #139 offered a sketch and an optional twist to add a number. I chose to do both.  I selected this sweet little mouse image, called Mouse Balloon. Not only is this such a cute image, but it is free right now! I colored him with Copics and used the blender on the textured rag technique to give him a "furry" look. I edged the image paper with Distress inks. The number two, would be for my great grandson's next birthday.

Roses of Love

Roses of Love, from Make it Crafty, is a perfect digital stamp for playing with watercolor techniques. I used an idea from Vicky Papaioannou to color with Distress Markers and "watercolor" with a Wink of Stella pen. The background is Distress inks, the sentiment is embossed with Zing in the color of Leaf.  A few sequins finished off the card.

The optional twist this week over at Twisted Thursday, The Outlawz, is to "show some love"! You do need to kiss a lot of toads to find your prince:)
This beautiful image comes to us from Make it Crafty, our sponsor for this month. It is called "sealed with a kiss."
I colored the image with Copics and added Polychromos colored pencils, Wink of Stella, and white gel pen. The purple card is Bazzeill, the large heart is Vellum from Tim Holtz. Watercolored Flowers

So far behind on the Watercolor for Card Makers, Intermediate Techniques, class. And, it closes tomorrow for the "live" class. Fortunately, there is a lifetime access so I can finish and revisit when I can. I did want to post this card because I loved this easy technique, and am pleased with the results.
I used Gansai Tambi water colors and cut out the yellow sentiment using A Cut Above, Dee's Destinctively die.

Friendship

This week the optional twist is "Add a Sentiment" over at Twisted Thursday, The Outlawz. Our sponsor is Make it Crafty. I was very lucky to learn from Zoe when she came to the USA last month to help Jenn Dove with Copic Boot Camp. She is a doll! Anyway, I selected the digital stamp Girls Secret Swing to make this card for a friend. I used a Darice embossing folder for the background and colored with Tombow and Color Bursts on watercolor paper. I fussy cut the girls and swing so they could swing from the tree and added a popped up sentiment from Stampendous.

Bearly a Headache Bookmark

This cute image called "Bearly a Headache", comes from Sandra Caldwell on Etsy. She made this image specially for her good friend, Holley, who has been seizure free for 6 years after brain surgery.

Holley is having a bookmarker challenge on her blog using this image. I thought this would be a great opportunity to try something new to me. I used a Dove Blender Pen with Tim Holtz Distress Inks to color the bear. I squished some ink down on my craft sheet to work with. Then, I thought, why waste the leftovers, so I sprayed them with water and dunked the bookmarker into it. After it dried, I added a real bandaid for the bear to sit on, some white Neon Amplify and some shading with a Pitt pen. Finally, I added an epoxy sticker from Colorbok that said smile. Sometimes we have to smile when we least feel like it.

From the Heart Special Delivery Snowman

From the Heart, i {heart} card sketches w/ a tWiSt #137offered a sketch and an optional twist to add hearts. I chose to do both.  I selected this adorable snowman image, Special Delivery Snowman.
My image was a bit larger and covered a lot of the green paper, but I think it still shows enough follow the sketch guidelines. I added some faux stitching on the card and a bit of Distressed Inks on the edges of the sentiment and image. The envelope heart is colored with red gel pen to make it show up better and I added another heart on the popped up image.

The butterfly is popped up with foam tape. The background is Distress Inks, and I added a couple of sequins.

Valentine's Girl

The Progressive Freebie Challenge this month over at The Outlawz offers us a free image from Teresa Arsenault, Tickell Expressions, called Valentine Girl.
I colored her with Polychromos and added just a touch of red pen and some Wink of Stella on the heart. I fussy cut her and popped her up for dimension. The background paper was made with an embossing folder and some Pan Pastels. The large hearts were watercolored and then cut with a die cut. The smaller hearts are stickers from EKsuccess.
