Fun with Cross Stitching

The May Paper Smooches challenge prompt is "fun"! Well, I'm here to tell you that I am having so much fun with the cross stitch dies and I'm not even a cross stitcher! (Well, maybe I am now?)

The bottom layer is a Darice embossing folder to which I added some Gina K inks. The layered hello is recessed under the embossed panel and the cross stitched circle is popped. I added a few drops of translucent yellow Nuvo Crystal Drops. I kind of free form stitched (creative way to say I just let the needle go anywhere it wanted, and that's the "fun" part) the butterfly and then added traditional cross stitching with the blue. (to show I really can follow directions, but often don't want to)

Cross Stitched Snowman Card

Anything goes this month over at  the Paper Smooches January Challenge. 

I am loving these new Stitched Circle Die and the matching Embroidery Hoop. It took a while to embroider this little snowman, but was well worth it (and, fun to do in front of the TV in the evening!). First, I used a stamp of a snowman from the Warm Hearts stamp set on a matching circle die to use as a reference for stitching. I'm not a cross stitcher so I'm not sure how to make round objects, but I still love the way he turned out! It is popped up over the frame.

 I also used the pretty Ribbon die topped with clear Nuvo Crystal Drops. The fun frame shape, Antique Frame, comes from Penny Black.

Paper Smooches Cross-Stitch with MHK Designs Butterfly

Cross-Stitch Wishes on a Vertical Step Card

The Three Amigos has a blog hop and a challenge. I really had to hunt high and low to find comparable papers, but these are fairly close to two of those shown. Mine are from Echo Park Simple Life paper pad. I used the set Cross-Stitch Wishes from Close to my Heart and created a Vertical Step Card.

The XO is popped up and I found a tiny pair of scissors that I sprayed using my Copic airbrush. A few Nuvo Drops finished up the card.
