I have just spent four of the most enjoyable days coloring with my Copics from early in the morning until very late at night.
Copic Boot Camp is the brainchild of
Jennifer Dove. Along with some very sweet "minions" she worked us long and hard to improve our Copic coloring skills. I met some very delightful fellow enthusiasts who have become new friends as well as renewing friendships with some past attendees. People came from all over the country and even a few from across the ocean to participate. We worked on skin, hair, eyes, clothes, folds, feathers, leaves, clouds and more. We used an air brush and played with textures using blender solution and fabrics. Of course, we had delicious food and treats along the way. Sponsors donated tons of goodies for give aways and prizes. I am totally exhausted with a huge smile. This is the piece that I am most proud of. The stamp comes from Jenn Dove,
Dove Art Studios, over at CC Designs.

Sandra, how sweet of you to take the time to pop over. Thank you!
DeleteWonderful result!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ria. And, thanks for looking and leaving a comment :)
DeleteWow, just wow! That is incredible, Jean!
ReplyDeleteI would imagine that your friend shared hers with you as well, Katrina. I was happy to meet her; thanks for giving me the heads up to hunt her down :)
DeleteHi Jean!! Absolutely fantastic!! Wow, what a great job you did on those boots. Your talent amazes me!!
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to tell me more about your experience!!
Hugs!
Darcy
Thanks, Darcy. It was amazing. Now I have a bee in my bonnet to do pink boots and red boots LOL!
DeleteAll I can say is...WOW, those boots look like they have been spit shined! Absolutely amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Janet. It all comes about by leaving the white behind with a subtle blend of decreasing color edging up to it.
DeleteSo so good Jean, I would love to be able to colour like this. Wish they had stuff like this over here in Australia. That boot stamp is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteJenn does have some videos from Annie's Attic, Aileen. Not quite the same as the live experience, but still great to learn from.
DeleteI love these and I have the stamp !
ReplyDeleteHow about a tutorial on these black boots ? I would love this and I'm sure others would as well.
Since it is a Jenn Dove class that she is well known for, I don't think I could do that Angela. However, if you look up some Dr. Martin boot sites, you will see some that you can copy. I'll bet you could do it!
DeleteI can't get over how crazy amazing this is. Incredible!! wowowoowow
ReplyDeleteHow nice you you to pop over here, Kathy! Thanks for the kind words!
DeleteI just saw these on Kathy Racoosin's Sunday post. These look phenomenal! It is hard to believe that they were colored and not the real things! Just amazing!
ReplyDeleteWould you please see if you are allowed, if you are willing, to list the supplies you used? I am mostly interested to see if you used something on top of the Copics to get that shine. I can't think of the name of what I'm thinking of! It'sounds a clear, thick, liquid that gives a very shiny appearance. Thank you for sharing this art!
I appreciate that you came by to take a closer look, Traci. No, the only thing that was used on these boots were the Copics. The "shine" happens as you layer down from very dark to light, leaving just a touch of white. The contrast is what makes it look shiny. (I think you were referring to Glossy Accents, but not necessary with this technique.)
DeleteOutstanding work, Jean! You've captured the shine beautifully. What an eye catching piece of artwork!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Carol. Of course, it was my second year doing boot camp LOL!
DeleteI'm blown away. That's more than I knew could be done with paper and ink!
ReplyDeleteAnd, Robin, that's why I love my Copics :) Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteWow, I spotted your boots over at the Daily Marker and just had to pop over to say what an amazing colouring job you did!
ReplyDeleteSorry I didn't see this comment sooner, Lynne. It was so nice of you to pop over and leave such a kind comment!
ReplyDeleteJust had to go back to your Boot Camp challenge to see your coloring...WOW
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sue. Now you can see why Lisa HAS to go to the advanced class in May!
