Outlawz Sunday CAS with and Owl and Pure Innocence from My Favorite Things

This is my final week as a guest designer over at the Outlawz CAS (Clean and Simple) Sunday challenge. I really have enjoyed being part of a design team and hope that one day I will have the opportunity to do so again. This week's challenge was to use a button as the focal point of our card. The first thing that I thought of was an owl winking. Not finding one, I had to just draw one myself.

Then, not completely sure that my owl was drawn that well, I decided to use some button papers and this simple little girl from Pure Innocence by My Favorite Things and do a second one. I forgot to take a picture of the colors used on this one though :( The Outlawz team decided to post both :)

Caroling Snowmen from Meljens Designs

Aren't these caroling snowmen from Meljens designs just so much fun. Very happy and I want to just pinch their cheeks! It really, really puts me in the holiday mood :)
I thought I would enter this into the Meljens challenge as well as Friday's Color Challenge for the Outlawz, anything goes with a Christmas twist, this week.

Little Garden Sally from Art by Mi Ran and Mojo Monday #360

I just love this Little Garden Sally with the watering can from Art by Mi Ran and decided to combine her Anything Goes with the Mojo Monday challenge. I added an embossed tree to one side, a black die cut to the left, the ribbon is kind of see through with little flowers and the topper to the button I made myself with a Pearl Pen.

Outlawz CAS "HOWDY Partner" from Mo Manning

Continuing this month as a guest designer on the Outlawz CAS (Clean and Simple) group I enjoyed working on this weeks prompt, using one of the many ways we use to say hello. Since my husband is originally from Texas, I had to use this whimsical stamp from Mo Manning.

Outlaws Friday Color "Angel" by Pink Gem Designs

The Friday Color Challenge from the Outlawz was to use an angel. When my brother and I were little, my mom used to call us "angels" whenever she was annoyed with us. I didn't realize that until I was an adult. I always thought it had been a term of endearment HAHA! This Angel is from Pink Gem Designs.

The background papers were made through a class I have been taking online called Stretch Your Stamps 2. I made lots of fun pieces of paper and have no idea how I did each one! I'm not great at keeping notes because I really think I will remember. She is Copic colored with Sakura gel pen added for the halo and stars. The edges of the circle cut angel have some Distress Inks in Salty Ocean and Seedless Preserves.

Mojo Monday #359

Mojo Monday always has a new template for carders to try. I find it very difficult to follow a pattern (I'm awful at sewing because of that!) However, I gave it a try but then didn't know what to do with my little Pure Innocents from My Favorite Things, so I just put her on foam squares on top. Does it still count?
I used my airbrush to make the ribbon and the flower match and used my own, homemade melted beads for the dots.

Waving to You from the Outlawz and a Fun Folded Card

As an honored guest designer for the Outlawz challenge this week, I had a lot of fun playing with the word for this week, "wave." Those of you who follow my other blogs know I love finding a unique way around challenges whenever possible (my "Inchies" can be found on my TangleStreet blog), so this challenge allowed me to do that. It was suggested that we do the wave of a hand, a wand, people going up and down at a sports event, or any way the word wave could be used. It got me thinking about my mom getting me those stinky permanent waves (anyone else remember those?) when I was little. I had/have poker straight hair and I think she always wished for a cute little curly headed child. Thus, my entry was Permanent Wave:

And, then, just for fun, I made this quarter fold card that I found on Splitcoaststampers by Jana O'Brien that I thought would be fun to use when sending out Zentangles, photos, or a check to someone.

Outlawz Friday Color Challenge with Mo Manning Stamp Ragged Romeo

This week on the Outlawz Color Challenge, we were given a specific pallet to use. I have been itching to use this pretty little Mo Manning stamp called "Ragged Romeo". I thought these colors would work with this stamp. What a battle to attach the lace to the side. Nothing wanted to stick to the lace and paper. I finally used micro glue dots and that held. I also didn't have any cardstock for the card in the right colors so I pulled out my Copic air gun and just did it myself. I went around the white of the stamped image with VersaMagic in Plumeria. The flower has a foam popper on the back and a few pink pearls finished up the card. Your comments are always appreciated. Thanks for looking :)

Meljen's Hot Air Balloon, Baby Cards, and a Pop-Up

I loved the challenge from Meljen's Designs this week. We were to do "Splat"! Well, I adore splatting since I am an art journaler as well. So, splat I did. I used white paint on the blue card and just blew away on it. I used sprays on the yellow and then took the sprayer tube out of the blue and tapped on it to make splats. On the one just under the wonderful Hot Air Balloon, from Meljen, I splatted cream acrylic on green cardstock then mixed up some blue acrylic with water and tapped above with a big brush to drop splats on it. The balloon is fussy cut and raised with foam squares as is the sentiment.

Two new babies this week for different neighbors. Both boys. So I assembled both at the same time keeping them at least a bit different in case they compare LOL!

Pop-Up Card
This card is folded many ways and then pops up to open. What a fun card. I got this from The Frugal Crafter (on YouTube, type in "how to make a pop up explosion card". She goes a tiny bit fast on the video but I just stopped it and did a screen shot of the measurement and printed it out. I enjoy her videos so much. Great fun!

BVQ Bill from Dr. Digi for the Outlawz

This week, at the Outlawz' coloring challenge, the theme is Bar-b-Que/Picnic. I couldn't resist this Dr. Digi, BBQ Bill, stamp. Isn't he fun? I used some Glossy Accents to make his glasses look like glass (and a bit for the "sweat") and added a few of my own melted bead dots.

Monochromatic Card Using Meljen's Designs

What fun. Do a card monochromatic! That was the challenge from Meljen's Designs and I grabbed the beautiful Meljen's Designs Cup of Sunshine and all the red/violet Copics and got to work. I just love the raspberry color. I sprayed a cut out strip with my air brush and added a couple of flowers and three of my own dots made from melting beads. This is my first entry to Meljen's and I was so impressed with what the design team came up with. Hop over and enjoy more monochromatic goodness!

Copic Contest, Mi Ran Design, Christmas Cards

Copic has a contest. Have fun coloring this free image:

Art by Mi Ran  generously give a free stamp. Take a look at all her beautiful stamps on her Etsy site. I have been working on the Clean and Simple cards so I thought I would add just about everything on this one. Although, it still looks minimalist compared to what I see out there by others.

And for some fun Christmas cards that I did with Jennifer Dove a couple of weeks ago. Check out her Copic classes on DVD or download. Jen is a great teacher and I love the way she has us pile on and pop up those layers!

Happy National Watermelon Day from the Outlawz CAS

I am so pleased to have been invited to be a guest designer over at the Outlawz challenge of CAS (Clean and Simple) for the month of August! Being new to cardmaking, I have been working hard to learn how to layer and add all kinds of embellishments in a tasteful manner, and here I am now trying to keep my card uncluttered. I think both types of cards have their merits. Again, being new to this, I have been looking at many blogs and websites of very talented cardmakers who also are on design teams. I am fascinated by this and wondered how you get to be on a design team. Maybe someday, when I grow up (HAHA) I can be a member of a design team too :)

So, for 5 weeks, you will be able to see my card over at the Outlawz. Here is the link for this week's challenge, Watermelon (in honor of National Watermelon Day).

Friendship - Outlawz Challenge with House Mouse Berrying Gifts

Sunday is National Friendship Day. Humm, didn't know that, but I do love my friends. (And, I count my dear readers as friends too!) I learned about this from the Outlawz Challenge where they asked for friendship-oriented projects. I happen to love the Stampendous House Mouse stamps and this one, Berrying Gifts, really spoke to me about the sharing and giving aspects of friendship.

I added some clear gel on the berries to make them glisten and some gold gel on the inside of the raised word, friends. Copics used below.
